About Me PowerPoint

You will be creating an About Me Power Point Presentation to share with your classmates over the next several weeks. You will be required to use several different databases to find information and pictures for your presentation.

Step One: Create a Library Folder to store your work in your My Documents.
  1. Go to My Documents
  2. From the File Menu/Select New/Select Folder
  3. Name your Folder, InfoSkillsClass

Step Two: Create a PowerPoint Presentation
  1. Look on your desktop for the shortcut to PowerPoint (It is orange.) Double click the icon to open the program.
  2. The program will open a new presentation. The first page is in a title page format.
  3. Click to add title---WRITE YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME. You can use any font and color that you want AS LONG AS IT IS VERY READABLE.
  4. Click to add subtitle--WRITE ALL ABOUT ME
  5. You may decorate this opening page when you have free time by adding pictures and colors.
  6. VERY IMPORTANT--Saving your presentation. Go to File/Save As/Put the presentation in your InfoSkillsClass

Step Three: Create Pages on a Famous Person that Shares Your Birthday
  1. Open Word so that you have a document to save information on. Minimize this document.
  2. Go this website about famous birthdays http://www.famousbirthdays.com/
  3. Find your birthday. Look through the famous people that were born on your birthday. Select one or two people that interest you.
  4. Then copy his or her name on your Word document. Click SAVE AS. Name your document NOTES and save it in your InfoSkillsClass.
  5. Open your About Me PowerPoint Presentation
  6. Add a New Page. Use the BLANK style under Slide Layout.
  7. Add a text box and type
My birthday is (add the month and day of your own birthday.) One famous person that I share my birthday with is (write the first and last name of the famous person.)

Step Four: Adding a Picture of the Famous Person and Why They Were Famous
  1. Use the &NodeID=484|Lower House Research Resources
  2. Select the Link for Biography Resource Center
  3. Do a search on the famous person who shares your birthday
  4. Record why this person was famous (Use your microsoft office document named NOTES.)
  5. Find and save a picture of the famous person from this database. Save the picture in the folder you named InfoSkillsClass.
  6. Insert the picture on your PowerPoint slide on your Famous Person Birthday Slide
